G J Thompson is an actor, director, writer, and professor. He currently serves as Co-Associate Artistic Director of St Petersburg Shakespeare Festival (http://www.stpeteshakesfest.org/)  He has been seen in productions of  The Diary of Anne Frank, Twelve Angry MenWait Until Dark, The Mousetrap, Judgement at Nuremberg, Blithe Spirit, Broadway Bound [2016 TTB Award for Best Featured Actor] and Last of the Red Hot Lovers (Stageworks Theater Tampa). Other Tampa  area productions include: Taming of the Shrew, Much Ado About Nothing, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, and Hamlet (St. Petersburg Shakespeare Festival); Othello, The Underpants and Inventing Van Gogh (Jobsite); Betrayal and Cat on A Hot Tin Roof (Tampa Rep). G J also directed, and originated the role of Matthew, in East Lansing, winner of the 2014 Tampa Bay Theater Festival for Full Length Play. Other theater credits include writing and directing An Evangelist Drowns (a one-woman show about the life of Aimee Semple McPherson); adapting and directing productions of Richard III, Hamlet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest and Much Ado About Nothing (Rogers State University and St Petersburg Shakespeare Festival). He is a 2019 Tampa International Fringe Festival Award winner. 

G J's theatrical education includes degrees in theater from Florida State University and the University of South Florida. In addition, he has studied acting at the Goodman Theater and Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago.
